 Our writing tree! Students are encouraged to use a thesaurus to expand our descriptive writing vocabulary. Students are writing words on the leaf, the trunk, and branches to capture the emotions, feelings, and memories they associate with the two very different sides of our tree. They can also earn extra credit for writing poems and stories outside of the classroom. And our tree has been updated! Look at all the fabulous writing the students have added to our writing tree!

Our class has challenged the entire school to a BUCKET FILLING challenge. Read the play script we performed/filmed to challenge the school. Also, read the details about the challenge.
In the news! Student Personal Narratives have been transformed into Prezi presentations! Please check out the student work tab.
Current areas of concentration: Math: Fractions, fractions, fractions! As 5th graders they will learn how to compare fractions, reduce, rename, add and subtract fractions. We will also continue to work on our multi-digit multiplication and division skills. Reading: Our second reading unit is titled, "Give it all you got". We will be reading and discussing different obstacles and fears people face in life and how they try to overcome them. This unit also has a mini-focus on poetry. Language Arts: We are beginning a unit on personal narratives. The students are all incredible story tellers, now we will work on getting their stories on paper. Science: Variables and the scientific method. Huge concepts but exciting for our class! Ask your son or daughter about their plane.
** And here it is!** Students can currently order books through our classroom book orders. I will have a parent site for you to access, order, and pay for Scholastic books.
